POSITION
The position of application Engineer within MNC is responsible for supporting RGA applications engineer project on-site at customer facilities.
The position will not contribute to overall increase in Spectra's headcount
as it will be facilitated by the release on a Field Service Engineer in China
Position Overview:
Reporting to the Applications Manager at Company Spectra Products, this senior level technologist will provide key interface and solutions in addressing customer technical issues and needs using Gas Analysis Products - RGAs (Residual Gas Analyzers). This position is based in Taiwan.

Position Overview:
Reporting to the Applications Manager at Company Spectra Products, this senior level technologist will provide key interface and solutions in addressing customer technical issues and needs using Gas Analysis Products - RGAs (Residual Gas Analyzers). This position is based in Taiwan.
Responsibilities:
- Work with customers to resolve product application issues using RGAs.
- Visit customers to obtain first-hand knowledge of process tools and applications
- Perform training function for employees and customers as required on products.
- Assess changes required to upgrade products (as customer process requirements change) and provide continued support as required.
- Provide complex technical support for the development and implementation of customer applications to ensure product and process consistency.
- Maintain contact with existing and potential customers and report regularly on customer activities (for each current and potential customer).
- Provide hands-on support for joint development (with customer product development personnel).
- Perform site-inspections to determine detailed integration requirements prior to sale or installation.
- Coordinate with Customer FDC/CIM/IT staff for integration of products in to the factory environment
- Assist with RGA installations and tool commissioning
- Work with sales staff to assess potential applications of company products to meet customer needs and help to penetrate accounts with both new products and new applications for existing products.
- Work with customers to understand their needs for new products, develop product requirements, and
report this information to sales and marketing personnel to determine market feasibility.
- Design and deliver presentations on Product Group products and applications.
- Identify unmet market needs and provide prompt feedback to the Product Groups for potential new opportunities and products.
- Maintain strong knowledge of competitors and competitive activity.
- Investigate new and emerging technologies that are applicable to RGA products and provide the necessary information to marketing and engineering.
- Travel extensively to customer sites locally and possibly regionally (in Asia)
Qualifications:
- B.S. degree with 5-10 years of experience in the area of semiconductor capital equipment, vacuum based solar or LED processing. Field support role is essential. Background in Chemistry, Physics or Materials Science preferred.
- Understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes.
- Proven track record in effective customer interactions.
- Extensive hands-on experience in use of instrumentation to support manufacturing optimization and trouble-shooting, either as an end-user or with an instrumentation or test engineering company.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex equipment containing mechanical, electrical, and software components and communicate identified problems
- Proficient in using basic laboratory tools, such as data acquisition system, VOM, etc.
- Basic understanding of analog and digital circuits.
- Familiar with use of statistical methods for process optimization.
- Strong vacuum technology experience.
- Proficient in using productivity enhancing tools, such as laptop, Excel/Word/PowerPoint software.
- Must have solid communication skills in English and Chinese.
- Calm under time pressure.
- MS strongly preferred; Ph.D. in engineering or physical science is desirable.
- Fundamental understanding of vacuum science
- Ability to collect/organize/ and effectively use mass spectrum data pertinent to the analysis of field issues.
- Understanding of solar manufacturing processes
- Ability with a basic CAD tool is desirable.
- Understanding of relationships of chemistry, pressure and energy on processes.
- Ability to provide market input related to the new emerging technology and competitive activities.
