Position Title: Application Engineer / Microscopy Application Specialist
Reports To: Sales Manager
Direct Reports: None.
Purpose of the Position
The Microscopy Imaging Application Specialist is part of the microscopy imaging systems sales team for greater China. The successful candidate will be responsible for the technical introduction, training, and problem solving for customers for Company’s imaging systems, including confocal, multi-photon, optical tweezers, Optical Coherence Tomography and Cytometry systems. The candidate must have a solid understanding of optical imaging techniques, and significant hands-on experience with imaging microscopes and optical setups. Significant travel is required. Combined background in optics and life science preferred.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Application Service:
- Conduct demonstrations on specified equipment and provide technical expertise in pre-sales activities
- Provides on-site instrument installation, maintenance and repair of hardware and software, including customer sites, tradeshows, and courses
- Provide training on Company’s imaging products, and on techniques related to customer’s application.
- Work with sales to understand competing solutions in the market, and advantages/disadvantages of each
- Author SOP and generate application specific technical content for use by sales and marketing (Application notes and tech briefs in Chinese version) as requested.
- Sales Support:
- Gives market feedback and participates in the development of the next product generation
- Assist sales in understanding the customer’s specific needs and application.
- Give product speech in seminar/academic meeting/tradeshow/customer meeting.
- Prepare comparative analysis document with competitive product and gather product relevant reference articles/thesis/nice result pictures to help product prove.
- Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
- Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Hands-on experience using, demonstrating, aligning, maintaining and servicing optical imaging equipment and optical systems (Optics + Life Science) real life experience needed. (Study teaching or theorising does not count)
- Master or above in Engineering Technology, EE, Biomedical Science, Physics
- Combined background in optics and life science preferred.
- Ability to think and execute tasks independently

- To initiate solutions Is able to initiate communication, to summarize results, to drive processes
