Position: EE Test Quality Engineer
Internal title: Electronic Engineer
The EE Test Engineer is responsible for the technical quality aspects of Laser manufacturing quality performance and supply base performance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Diagnosis and troubleshooting of PCBA/Control Unit related issues in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Qualification of new and existing PCBA/Control Unit suppliers
- Transfer and deployment of functional test fixtures for in-house designed PCBA/Control unit to Asia suppliers from our US Test Development HQ
- Drive yield improvements through 8D and RCCA activities. Analyze PCBA/Control Unit functional issues and incorporate corrective actions as required in conjunction with Suppliers, Design Engineering and Production teams
- Lead and support cross-functional failure investigations to identify root cause and corrective and preventative action utilizing advanced problem solving tools (8D, 5 Why, K-T)
- Lead and support discussions related to failures; often high priority and high visibility.
- Ensure timely and effective responses to customer issues where responsible
- Collaborate with peer engineering experts at other business units of the company.
Other responsibilities include:
- Supports Design, development and transfer of Production Test Equipment hardware with emphasis on Safety, Robustness, and Serviceability.
- Develops Test Specifications in conjunction with US Design & Test Engineering teams includes updating drawing, work instruction procedure, ECO submission etc.
- Manages offline bench testing, diagnostics and fault detection testing of system level PCBA/Control Unit to improve test coverage.
- Involved in procurement, installation, calibration and configuration of test instrumentation and hardware for the lab.
- Generate reports of Failure Analysis, First Articles, CAPA, yield rate and product performance metrics.
- Provide disposition for non-conformance material
- Manage manufacturing quality process includes First Article process, 8D process etc.
Requirements:
- BSEE /MSEE and minimum of 5+ years’ experience in Manufacturing & Quality operations/NPI engineering of electronic or electromechanical products in a Capital equipment, Industrial machinery, automotive or medical device manufacturing environment.
- Thorough and proven understanding of digital and analog test methodology.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics and specifications.
- Capable of contributing to the development of improved business process and supporting collateral such as supplier assessment checklists, risk-based qualification planning, excursion response and structured problem solving.
- Quality data collection and data analysis
- Understanding of statistical methods, including population sampling, hypothesis testing
- Inspection methods & tools, mechanical and electrical
- Problem Solving techniques such as 8-D, 5-why, Fishbone / Fault tree, PFMEA, K-T
- Experience in either semiconductor, lasers, power supplies
- Experience with ISO compliant Quality Management Systems
- Demonstrated success in analyzing data, identifying root causes and formulating solutions to complex quality problems.
- Experience applying Statistical methods to support manufacturing (SPC, DOE, Cpk / Ppk. Gage Studies (Minitab +)
- Excellent communication skills. Can communicate work plans, schedules, resource needs as well present analysis and results, and drive key decisions to cross functional audiences
- Proficiency in HDL, Microsoft Visual Studio programming in Visual Basic and C# will be added advantage.
