JOB DESCRIPTION

Title: Country General Manager - China (Light and Motion)
REPORTS TO: Regional managing director, APAC Sales L&M
FUNCTION: General Manager / Sales (LIGHT source & MOTION  - OEM products)
LOCATION: China (WUXI or Shanghai – preferably WUXI)

Details:
This position will be responsible for driving Light and Motion division’s overall growth in China, through leadership and development of the commercial, scientific, Technical/Application and customer service teams. They will define and implement a strategy in China with the challenge of achieving high growth set in a dynamic environment.
This leader will have following priorities:
Leadership:
  • Contribute to the development of the China sales strategy (direct & 3rd party); translating the regional strategies into actionable goals and initiatives in China for Sales Channels, Service, Technical/Application and Customer Service
  • Create a “Customer Focused mindset” by ensure internally, a “serving one another” team environment and effective teamwork, in order to reflect superior customer experience for MNC’ customers and to demonstrate competitive differentiation
  • Proactively assess and manage organizational structures, from time to time, to deliver superior customer experience, both internally and externally
  • Manage a matrix environment and foster collaboration. He/she should be able to work effectively in regional and global environments, influencing business decisions to support China growth, acting as “bridge” between China and corporate headquarters regarding all relevant decision making processes
  • Lead and direct the activities, costs, operations, and forecast principles to manage the Division’s progress toward stated goals and objectives
Sales Management:
  • Re-define strategy and develop its execution plans for the market expansion and business growth, which includes managing short-and long-term plans to seize business opportunities, with the right focus on emerging markets and innovative technology. Evaluate market trends with focus on upcoming market opportunities. Recommend and implement strategic changes to deliver doubling booking. Develop key customer relationships and technical specifications in the new markets
  • Develop and implement sales forecasting, planning, and budgeting processes used within the sales organization. Proactively monitor and strive to maintain high levels of quality, accuracy and process consistency in the sales organizations planning efforts. As needed, coordinate planning activities with other functions and stakeholders within headquarters and China offices
  • Accountable for the on-time implementation of sales organization quotas and performance objectives. Supports the equitable assignment of sales force quotas and ensures quotas are optimally allocated to all sales staff
  • Proactively monitor sales progress for key accounts by territories, and then coach and assist the sales team in clearing roadblocks and bottlenecks in order to reduce sales cycle time
  • Support an implementation of enablement technologies, including SFDC to sales organizations. Work closely with Sales Operation and Sales Enablement to optimize the effectiveness of the tools
People Development
  • Develop leadership and team competence with focus on creating a performance based (high accountability) culture, encouraging the leaders of the functions to develop measureable goals and objectives for themselves and their teams that support the business top line and profitability growth
  • Ability and experience to lead and coach a team through influence and modeling
  • Previous experience of process development/continuous improvements and change management
  • Secure adequate competence and development plans for building leaders and teams. Strong believer in continuous people development and succession planning.
  • Demonstrate ‘Leader as Coach’ and ‘Servant Leadership’. Seek to understand first (listen) before trying to be understood
Other skills
  • Build peer support and strong internal-company relationships with other key management persons
  • Exceptional communication, presentation and consultative selling skills. Able to take all the data and present it in an effective story telling format
  • Willingness to travel and independently support customer meetings
  • Fluent in Mandarin and English. International experience is preferred
  • Proven and successful track record of developing and implementing sales strategies in China
  • Proven track record of building a sales channel (Channel Partners, Field Sales and Key Account Managers), growing major accounts and over-achieving on sales objectives
  • Degree in Engineering, preferably Optics and MBA preferred
  • Experience in Photonics industry
