Reporting to: Manager of the Applications Dept.
Location: Pudong, Chuansha Town, Shanghai
We are seeking an experienced Laser Application Engineer specializing in the Laser Welding process. The successful candidate will focus primarily on sales-targeted laser welding projects, including in-lab laser welding tests (70-80%) and provide remote or on-site application support as requested by customers (20%-30%).
Job Description
• Analyze the weld quality, optimize the process parameters, record the test date, and present the trial results with professional test reports.
• Complete internal-oriented laser welding tasks for innovative processes or new product validations.
• Work independently as an internal interface to the Sales & Service teams, Product Manager, and R&D Dept. with professional support, as well as a window for technical communications to the customers with a project management mindset.
• Daily maintenance of the equipment, the tools, the accessories, the consumables, and the environment of the Laser Welding Lab.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Fully understand and follow the safety operation regulations as well as the company’s policies and work procedures;
- Resolve laser welding issues with existing/conventional or innovative approaches;
- Make judgements on the crucial factors that affect the laser welding process with data analysis;
- Communicate internally with senior professionals (including HQ) and externally with the customers and partners;
- Complete daily/routine jobs independently and new assignments as conducted;
- Good learning capability and communication skills;
- Pro-active and teamwork attitude;
- Strong sense of responsibility and recognition of the “CAN DO” work culture.
Mandatory requirements:
- At least 3 years of experience in laser welding, including the commonly involved materials (e.g. steels, aluminum alloys and copper), fixtures, analysis of weld quality and process optimization;
- Experience with the operation and the programming of ABB robots;
- Hands-on experience of installation and commissioning of laser welding equipment and tools;
- Fluent English skills in both speaking and writing.
Preferred experience:
- Experience with industrial lasers and optics (fixed optics or scanners) will be a plus;
- Experience in laser welding of e-mobility battery components will be a big advantage;
- Experience with DeviceNET and ProfiNET protocols will be a plus.
