The Role:
The Director of Regional Marketing & Business Development for China is a pivotal role in driving MNC’s IP licensing business in the region. Working closely with stakeholders primarily from Marketing, the Business Units (“BUs”) and Sales, the successful candidate will have two key missions, acting as a regional “hub” for all marketing and BU activities in China:

- working with Segment Marketing and the BUs to drive the development of the China market, identifying and nurturing new partners and sales opportunities in key target markets
- Supporting the BUs and Sales in strengthening relationships with existing accounts, developing a pipeline of new customers and helping Sales as needed to close business

Working with other stakeholders across the organisation to achieve MNC’s revenue and other strategic targets for China, you will have the following responsibilities:
- OEM/ODMs and related ecosystems: working closely with Segment Marketing, use your understanding of MNC’s target vertical segments to identify key players and contacts in order to influence prospective IP licensing customers and/or ecosystem partners, and be able to break down the value chain of relevant players, e.g. mobile phone makers
- New customer development: working closely with Technology Marketing and Business Development teams from the BUs as well as Segment Marketing, identify new target accounts and nurture them, handing them over to Sales at an appropriate stage of development, influencing the company’s growth trajectory
- Existing customer penetration: working closely with local Sales and Solution Engineering teams, to expand use of MNC IP within existing customers, increasing customer lifetime value (CLV)
- Ecosystems: take a leading role in the development of relationships with customers, prospective customers, OEMs/ODMs and others across the China semiconductor and broader electronics industry ecosystem
- Value propositions: develop and/or adapt and communicate value propositions that resonate with the dynamics and expectations of Chinese customers, prospective customers and OEM/ODM partners, demonstrating competitiveness and low total cost of ownership (TCO)
- Operations: help develop sales tools and account/segment engagement strategies and tactics as appropriate for China in conjunction with stakeholders
- Industry profile: represent MNC at industry, and other relevant, events in the region
- Presenter & collateral: deliver technical presentations and work with Marketing Communications to develop China-specific content for Summits and other events in China (and occasionally in other regions), and help ensure the Chinese website and other regionalised collateral is up to date, relevant and of high quality
- Reporting: regular internal reporting of status using appropriate company tools & processes for opportunities, competitive intelligence, market requirements, etc
Required Skills:
- The applicant should have at least 10 years’ post graduate experience in the electronics industry with a strong knowledge of semiconductors, and at least 5 years’ experience in business development or technical sales/marketing in a B2B context
- A solid understanding of the semiconductor value system, able to break it down, understand where money is made today and where it will be made tomorrow, anticipating and capitalising on trends before the competition
- Strong influencing and objection handling skills in both the technical and business realms
- Excellent interpersonal skills, working alongside a wide range of internal teams and being able to develop excellent external senior/executive level relationships
- A thorough understanding of the consultative selling process
- An understanding of the semiconductor product development process
- Good analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to communicate clearly, passionately and compellingly with both technical & non-technical groups across national cultures
- Experience of working for or with Western multinational corporations
- Fluent in both spoken and written Mandarin and English
